I don’t know about you but I don’t have thousands of dollars to spend on clothes and even if I did, to be honest I just don’t see the point. Trying to keep up with the latest and the greatest is exhausting so that’s why I decided to work style my way and do my bit for saving the planet at the same time. Keeping it simple is a smart style mantra, as most of the fashion on the streets of NYC would attest to. At Fashion Week I’ve seen lots of distressed denim, logo tees, crisp white, classic black and as a cool nod to the 70’s its a fringe festival out here [More on that later]
It’s hot in New York right now so that’s another reason to keep fashion effortless and even better when you can do it for under $50!
With Audrey Hepburn and designer Carolina Herrera as my muses here’s the breakdown of my thrift shop look for NYC Fashion week Day 2
Calvin Klein men’s shirt $10 [Sourced Salvos Sydney and PS pop that collar ‘Carolina’ high for a super chic effect]
Black pencil skirt $5 [Sourced Salvation army NYC – perfectly lined and made in Italy might I add] Below the knee skirts seem to be another big trend on the streets of NYC – Bill Cunningham thinks so too
Rings [excluding my love ring] $1 each [Sourced from Spanish Harlem markets NYC – I saw this concept on style.com and knew I could copy it for less] $7 worth
Bracelets as above $5 worth
Shades $5 [Sourced Salvos Sydney, the bigger the frame the more fabulously expensive you seem if you ask me]
Bag $10 [Sourced Salvos Sydney – added recycled tyre tassle from my eco ‘it’ bag]
Total Cost: $42
The classics will never let you down and now you have more ‘Benjamins‘ to see the city in style
